Melvin Burgess

Melvin Burgess was born on 25 April(1954)in Twickenham. He grew up in Ilfield and moved to Berkshire when he was about 20, 1 year later, he moved to Bristol and he began to write. In 1983, he moved to London and started to write short stories, radio plays and children's fictions. He lives in Manchester now.

His first book was "The Cry of the Wolf" and it was published on 1990 from Andersen Press. He writes many books for children and his 16th book, "Billy Elliot", made big sales all over the world. It's about the real ballet dancer.
