synopsis:
Mary was born in India. His father was an official and her mother was beautiful, but she went party everyday. They didn't take care of Mary, and she was very selfish and didn't think about other people. She only think about herself.
One day, fascinoma became epidemic and Mary's parents died. Mr Archibald Craven who was an uncle of her got custody of her. At his house, Mary found a secret garden. This was a beautiful garden of Mrs Craven, but she died 10 years ago, so Mr Craven locked it.
She met a lot of people in the house and her mind became tender.
At night, she heard cry and found the boy whose name was Colin. He was a son of Mr Craven and he was ill. She was sorry with him because he is very selfish like she was. She took him to the secret garden. At first, he said that "I'll die because of disease!" but Mary admonishedhim. He didn't walk by himself, but after comming to the secret garden, he could do it. He got over his disease.
Opinion:
I thought Mary is very fascinating. She helped Colin to get over the disease. This story is very simple, so I could read smoothly.

I loved this story when I was a child. There is an old movie of this story too, maybe you could watch sometime. It is moving how the boy overcomes his sickness in the secret garden.
